My computer (yes, a PC) died again yesterday. That's the 4th time in 3 weeks. My Norton antivirus expired or stopped working for some reason about 3 weeks ago, and ever since I downloaded McAfee Antivirus on my computer 3 weeks ago, its been having problems. And there's no other Antivirus that I can get, because my computer can't install anything else (the guys at ResNet already tried) for some reason.

Go Macs.

  1. I could've warned you. McAfee = nothing but a world of hurt. It overloads your computer with useless downloads and takes up waaay too much runspace. Did they try AVG? That's been recommended to me a lot.

Also, did they try any of the non-commercial antivirus programs? There have to be at least a couple good ones made by everyday non-corporate programmers...

  2. The guys at ResNet already tried installing AVG, but for some reason, it didn't work. So they just put McAfee on.

My computer is miraculously working now, but it's probably only a matter of time before it dies again.

  3. AVG works wonders, but CAA and Resnet don't accept it as valid virus protection (although Microsoft does). I'd recommend getting the free version of AVG 8.5 as soon as you move off campus. It worked wonders for my computer until CAA stopped letting me use it.
